Watauga Dam Campground

Campground or RV Park

The Watauga Dam Campground is located on the Watauga River in Eastern Tennessee. This pet-friendly campground has 29 RV sites with full electric and water service (tent camping is not currently allowed). There is also a large picnic area, and a boat ramp located on the way to the overlook for Watauga Lake.


This TVA campground, is located on the peaceful Watauga River in East Tennessee. It contains 29 RV sites that are equipped with picnic facilities, electric, water, and sewer (3 sites). Two campsites are ADA accessible. Nearby hiking excursions can begin with TVA's Overlook Trail, that leads you to fabulous views of the Cherokee National Forest and Watauga Dam with its unique spillway. The Overlook Trail connects to the Appalachian Trail, which crosses over the Watauga Dam.

Eco-Friendly Notes

Place all trash in dumpsters except fish debris. Please contact the campground host on duty for pick up and disposal of fish scraps. Dumping waste or gray water onto the ground is prohibited

Maximum Length of Stay Allowed

From May 1 to Sept. 30, maximum days of stay is 21 consecutive days. From Oct 1 to April 30, maximum stay is 30 days.

Pet Friendly Notes

Only 2 pets per campsite are allowed and must be on a leash or caged at all times. Pets are prohibited on beach, adjacent picnic areas and inside bathrooms. Owners must pick up after their pets.
