The 2nd Annual Trade Mill and Native Heritage Days is a fun, family friendly event honoring our past through traditional dance, music, and demonstrations.
The festival is held on the grounds of the Trade Center Community Center, the original location of the mountain gap where Native Americans came together with frontier families to trade furs and goods at the trading post established by Daniel Boone. This mountain gap village/ trading post connected the Great Warrior Path through the Shenandoah Valley and Tennessee Valley to Piedmont in North Carolina.
Later the property was home to a rural school which served students from 1st to 8th grade. The school closed in the early 1980's during the time of school consolidation. Today the old school building houses a museum and the mill, which provide visitors a glimpse into the history of the "oldest community" in the State of Tennessee.
How to Get There
The festival is located off of US 421 in the village of Trade.
