The Goat Island Campground
The Goat Island Campground and RV park is a former TVA campground. It has been reorganized in the last two years due to the passing of the former owner. Much work has been done to clean up the camping sites and the ongoing plans include additional campsites and RV parking. The campground has a limited number of full hookups for RVs, including a Dump Station. Electrical Service has been upgraded in the last year. There are 86 camping pads for tent camping or campers. A concrete block restroom facility is conveniently located near the water for campers and boaters. A boat-launch ramp with plenty of parking adjoins the camping area. Situated on the banks of Pickwick Lake, the natural attraction for this campground is the fishing opportunity, both from the bank and from personal boats. The water in the vicinity of the campground is renowned for crappie fishing, and like most of Pickwick Lake, the catfish do bite good as well.
Wildlife is abundant, including a variety of migratory birds in spring and fall. The actual Goat Island, just across the water from the campground, is populated by a herd of goats which are quite friendly to visitors. Bring along some veggies or stale bread to feed the goats !
Non-camping boaters pay just $5 for launching and an annual launching permit is just $60.
No swimming area at the campsite, but boaters will find a multitude of places to cool off in the water.
No ATVs, UTVs or 4-wheelers are permitted on the premises.
From US Hwy 72, take the Iuka exit.
Turn North on Hwy 25 toward Iuka and Pickwick Lake.
Proceed 12.5 miles North to County Road 346.
Turn East on CR 346, then proceed 1 mile to the campground.
Great spot for bird-watching, especially during spring and fall migrations.
