Straight to Ale

Juergen Beck

Straight to Ale was formed in 2009 by a group of local homebrewers with the desire to provide top quality hand crafted beer to the local Huntsville market. Today, there are two active, functioning breweries, with a combined 50 barrels of brewhouse capacity and over 60,000 square feet of production, warehouse and taproom space.

The Tap Room at the Campus 805 location is open seven days a week. This facility offers food from Ale’s Kitchen featuring burgers, ribs, appetizers, and more. Patrons can sit on the back patio and enjoy listening to live music or watch a game playing on the outdoor television screen.

Free brewery tours are given on Saturdays at 2 p.m. at the Leeman Ferry location. Come out and see how Straight to Ale makes their beer first hand. Friendly tour guides Henry and Rich will give a guided tour of the brewery, followed by some beer samples in the tasting room. Guests must be 21 years old or older.

Eco-Friendly Notes

In just a few short years, the demand for Straight to Ale’s beer lead to the new Campus 805 location. The new location at Campus 805 was actually the first Butler High School, built in 1954 and was originally intended to also serve as a fallout shelter for the surrounding area in the case of a nuclear attack. With help from the City of Huntsville, Straight to Ale developed a well thought out plan for the entire space with a focus on recycling the history of the former school along with transforming the new space into a fully-functioning and efficient, modern production facility with the latest in craft brewing technology and a destination place for locals and craft beer lovers from all over the world.
