Sequoyah Birthplace Museum
The Sequoyah Birthplace Museum is dedicated to Sequoyah, who gave his people a gift that will endure forever. He gave them a writing system, so that the greatness of the Cherokee could live as a part of history.
The fascinating history of the Cherokees—their family life, customs, beliefs, and the sadness of the Trail of Tears when they were forced to go to Oklahoma in the 1830s, is all told at this Museum. The museum is one of the several significant sites along historic US-411.
The museum is operated by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, it is Tennessee's only tribally operated historical attraction.
