Red, White & Boom

Festival Event

As darkness falls over Athens on July 4th the sky will burst with brilliant colors and glisten with sparkling streamers heralding our Nation's victory for independence. This annual fireworks display is nestled in the Athens Football Stadium (100 U.S. Highway 31N in Athens) with rockets aimed skyward for an amazing show visible from surrounding spaces like Athens Park and Recreation Center, Central Church of Christ and other adjacent areas.

The 2020 Red, White & Boom show will be held under COVID-19 guidelines and requires attendees to restrict their viewing from their vehicles to "Drive-In Style" as part of the social distancing practices established by the Center for Disease Control and implemented by Alabama Public Health.

To help prevent and slow the spread of the illness further in the community, organizers ask that attendees continue their normal sanitation guidelines practices used at home and out on errands including - sanitizing interior surfaces of their vehicles and commonly contacted surfaces, frequent hand sanitizing, wear face mask if transiting outside of the vehicle, avoiding contact with non-family members or large groups, staying home if you are sick, covering coughs and sneezes and avoid any behaviors that increase an attendees risk of contracting COVID-19. (Please see the Attendance Release of Liability below as well as tips for protecting the yourself and our community from contracting and spreading COVID-19.)

The show doesn't happen until after dark (8:15PM or later depending on cloud conditions) and organizers ask that you refrain from gathering in groups and remain in your vehicle as you wait for the show. The display is a rain or shine event - so delay to rain is possible.

You can enjoy the music that pairs with the fireworks show by tuning into Outlaw 105.1.

Please note:
There will be no activities held at Central Church of Christ this year but they have graciously offered their lot for parking and viewing under social distancing guidelines.

Please plan accordingly, as there will not be any public restrooms available.

Anyone participating in the viewing of the Red, White & Boom Firework display does so willingly and at their own risk and by attending, agrees to release and hold harmless all organizers and associated event entities of any liability including contracting COVID-19 illness.

In attending the event, Red, White & Boom: Drive-In Edition, all attendees agree to willfully adhering and maintaining the State of Alabama guidelines of the social distancing requirement of six feet between individuals and single-household groups and that viewing will be done from inside the vehicle.
