Recall LaGrange

Festival Event

Ages Festival is Appropriate For

Appropriate for all ages

Each year, hundreds of history buffs and visitors gather at the LaGrange College Site to commemorate the burning of LaGrange College during the Civil War. Held annually in May, Recall LaGrange brings to life an important part of the area’s historical culture through re-enactors dressed in period clothing, Civil War camp life, skirmishes, Civil War-era entertainment, military drills and more. The LaGrange Living Historical Association organizes the event with the help of the 27th Alabama Infantry Regulars and the Providence Living History Re-enactors.

Saturday’s schedule of events include live music from a handful of bluegrass bands from the area, handmade arts and crafts, wagon rides, blacksmith demonstrations, old sewing machine demonstrations, washboard demonstrations, Civil War demonstrations by the Providence Living History Re-enactors, and a book signing by Robert Steen. A local physician will also mock demonstrate medical procedures performed during Civil War times.

A dedication ceremony at LaGrange Cemetery takes place on Sunday along with tours and arts and crafts vendors. Concessions are also available to purchase.
