Heath's Canoe Rentals

Guide or Outfitter
Susan Jones

With over 24 years of experience, Heath's Canoe Rentals is a great way to introduce yourself to the Buffalo River. Named for the Buffalo fish which was plentiful when the first settlers arrived, the Buffalo River offers fast moving shallow water full of obstacles as well as peaceful slow moving deep pools of water. Floats range from 3 to 50 miles and can take anywhere from 2 hours to 5 days to complete. During a trip, discover the river's high limestone bluffs and its many caves and cascading waterfalls. A trip down the Buffalo River also offers many rare plant and animal species. Wildlife is plentiful in this area and is very common to catch a glimpse of deer, fox, turtles, raccoons, a variety of birds and many other creatures in their natural habitats. The river is rich in aquatic life and fishing is very popular along with canoeing.

Heath's Canoe Rental is open daily from April to October and can accommodate groups up to 200 people. For individual and group rates, availability and reservations, call 931-593-2306. Reservations are not required, but recommended. Primitive camping available.
