Betsy Ligon Park and Walking Trail

Town or County Park
Betsy Ligon Park – Cari Griffith

ADA Accessibility Notes

The park and trail are ADA accessible.

The beautiful Betsy Ligon Park and Walking Trail features a scenic, two-mile walking trail along the old railroad tracks and creek in downtown Erin. Along the tree-lined trail, view many of the town's historic sites and explore colorful train cars situated along the old L&N railway bed that once ran behind Erin's Town Square. Benches and water fountains are plentiful for your convenience. A Boxcar and Caboose have been restored and are on display. Many of the community’s events are held here such as the Relay for Life, Toys for Tots, Irish Day Events, 4th of July Celebrations, Lighting of the Town Christmas Tree and other events.

The Betsy Ligon Park & Walking Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Trail activities include walking, biking, inline skating, bird watching and fishing.
